If you have never been to Washington D.C., (or if you haven't been since your eighth grade class took a trip there) I highly recommend taking a long weekend to visit this historical city. I recently had the chance to go to the D.C. area and I was truly taken aback when I saw the capital and all of the monuments, and felt the patriotism that I didn't even know I had. I walked all over the city from the Smithsonian to the Lincoln Memorial, from the World War I Memorial to the White House, to the Washington Monument and more. The buildings are old, white, laden with marble and columns and statues. It is an extremely beautiful city that everyone should take the time to visit.

I have to say I love DC - My favorite time of year is when the cherry trees are blossoming around the Washington Monument. Our family took so many trips there as a kid, my dad was always working on Capital Hill. LOVE IT! I will have to share your enthusiasm with Steve - he hasn't been there yet. It would be such a fun family vacation!
Not fair!! I've never been... What a great trip that would be with kids... so educational:)
